World History for Tues Dec 8

Please copy this map as best you can - take your time and make it as neat and clean as possible.

Funny to read that everything is so easy - I sure hope the maps are clean and neat.  And the questions for the maps better be answered completely.

US History for Tues Dec 8

You will have to transfer information (Indian Tribe Home Territories, Date and Route of Removal, Land Granted to Indians, and forts) from this map to your blank map.  Please do not forget to add the routes taken by Native Americans during their forced moves (the lines).  When you finish copying the map information, complete the back side of the handout.  Try to do it on your own, but you may work with up to two other people to come up with a perfect English version.  If you do not finish in class, that is ok - but I DO want you to complete the last part (about feeling "stupid") for Wednesday.

World History for Mon Dec 7, 2009

On this day, in 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.  This was the main base for the United States Navy and over 2,400 people died.  After the attack, the United States entered World War II, helping England, France, and the Soviet Union (Russia) defeat Germany, Italy, and Japan.  So let's go back in history and study the Roman Empire.

Please copy the information from this map to your handout map.  Be sure to use two different colors for the Eastern and Western Empires, as indicated here.  Also add the invasion routes taken by each of the barbarian (Huns, Goths, vandals, Anglo-Saxons) groups using this map.

US History for Mon Dec 7, 2000

On this day, in 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.  This was the main base for the United States Navy and over 2,400 people died.  After the attack, the United States entered World War II, helping England, France, and the Soviet Union (Russia) defeat Germany, Italy, and Japan.  So let's go back in history and study one of our country's most successful generals who also became President.

Read the Andrew Jackson packet and annotate (underline) the answers to the "Read and Remember" worksheet.  Then do the "Think and Apply" worksheet, placing an O next to six opinions.  An opinion is something that is a maybe or possible.  It is a belief or idea, but not necessarily true.  You can practice your fact or opinion skills here (easier) and here (shorter).

When you finish that, I want you to read one of the following sites and be ready to explain what you learn:
Tecumseh (Easy Reading with audio - DO NOT LISTEN!!!)
Tecumseh (Basic Information - Medium Read.  Good information)
Tecumseh (Harder Reading - 5 small pages.  Even has Spanish translation!)

Travelling the World

Whew - that was the last long break. But if you notive how much time we have left - it's not much and everything will zoom by pretty quickly.

In class today, I assigned a map "Age of Discovery" by Europeans. Funny how we still use that term. Yaknow, I "discovered" a Target on Penn Ave many years ago. Even though it had been there for a long time, I first discovered it later in time. The map will be "due" Friday. You can use p. 441 in your textbook for help.

Achoo

Yes, I am sick. I was wiped out last weekend - someone got me sick. I had to cancel plans and everything. Grrr. In class today, we learned a little about the Anasazi. Tomorrow will be about the Maya. Wednesday is going to have you complete a reading and questions about the Aztecs.
